Teen escapes from VisionQuest juvenile facility



CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- A 17-year-old youth escaped from the VisionQuest juvenile facility on Rocky Mountain Road in Quincy Township on Friday, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The juvenile, who escaped about 5:45 p.m., was last seen wearing a navy blue T-shirt, black athletic shorts, white sneakers and white socks, state police said.

The youth also has the letters "WPTS" tattooed under his eyes, police said.

Motorcycle passenger injured in Scotland, Pa., crash



SCOTLAND, Pa. -- A motorcycle passenger was injured Saturday when her leg was smashed between two vehicles in a crash on Main Street in Scotland, Pa., Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release.

The crash happened at about 4:53 p.m. Saturday in front of 3887 Main St., police said. The driver of a Ford Explorer was attempting to turn right into a driveway, but first began to turn left to make a wide right turn, police said. The driver of a motorcycle behind the Explorer saw the Explorer start to turn left and moved to the right side to attempt to pass the Explorer, police said. The Explorer then turned right, striking the motorcycle, police said.

The motorcycle passenger, Kaleena M. Brady, 27, of Chambersburg, Pa., was taken to Chambersburg Hospital with left leg injuries, police said. She was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The driver of the Explorer, Susan E. Shenck, 41, of Scotland, Pa., was cited for improper turning, police said.

Chambersburg woman charged with DUI with children in vehicle



CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- A Chambersburg woman faces charges in an April 11 incident in which police allege she was driving under the influence of drugs with three young children in the vehicle, according to a news release from Pennsylvania State Police.

Jessica Lynn Velez, 20, was charged with DUI, three counts of reckless endangerment, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and eight summary traffic violations, police said.

The three children, all under the age of 8, were not in child safety seats, and one was not in a seatbelt, police said.

Police stopped the vehicle at about 12:27 a.m.

Hancock man charged following Pa. crash



WARFORDSBURG, Pa. -- A Hancock man was charged with careless driving and not wearing a seatbelt after he crashed his Ford F-250 pickup truck early Sunday on Heavenly Acres Ridge Road in Thompson Township, Pa., Pennsylvania State Police said.

The crash happened at about 2 a.m., police said in a news release.

Robert Gipe, 35, was driving north on Heavenly Acres Ridge Road, north of Dyer Road, when he failed to negotiate a left turn and lost control of his truck, police said. The truck left the western side of the roadway and struck a high tensile fence, police said. The truck rolled several times before coming to rest in a field, police said.

Gipe had minor injuries, police said.

Boxer dog found in Fulton County



WARFORDSBURG, Pa. -- A white boxer dog with spots and a blue collar was found early Sunday on U.S. 522, near Bethel Church Road, north of Warfordsburg, Pa., Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release.

Thompson Township church burglarized



WARFORDSBURG, Pa. -- Tonoloway Bible Church on Johnson's Mill Road in Thompson Township, Pa., was burglarized last week, Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release.

The burglary happened between noon on April 25 and 3 a.m. on April 30, police said.
