May 03, 2010

INWOOD, W.Va. -- Two drivers were taken to Winchester (Va.) Medical Center on Monday morning after a crash on Interstate 81 in West Virginia, West Virginia State Police Trooper Cory Maynard said.

The crash happened at about 5 a.m. on northbound I-81, just across the Virginia-West Virginia state line, near the .5 mile marker, Maynard said. The crash involved two tractor trailers, a box truck and a small SUV, he said. The box truck overturned, he said.

The driver of the box truck and the driver of one of the tractor trailers were taken to the hospital as a precaution, he said.

The drivers' names and conditions were not available Monday morning.

The crash caused a backup on I-81, but all lanes were open, Berkeley County emergency dispatchers said at about 9 a.m.
