Community Foundation of Washington County MD Inc.



Marsha Jackson recently joined the staff of the Community Foundation of Washington County MD Inc. as marketing and communications director.

Jackson will be responsible for developing and implementing the organization's marketing and public relations initiatives as well as increasing public awareness of the many grants and scholarships of the Community Foundation.

Jackson has more than eight years of experience in nonprofit communications and fundraising and most recently worked as communications director of the American Diabetes Association in Washington, D.C.

Jackson has a master's degree in communications studies and a bachelor's degree in communications/journalism from Shippensburg (Pa.) University.

United Way of Washington County



Karen Sigler-Goldstein recently joined the staff of United Way of Washington County as finance director.

Sigler-Goldstein, a certified public accountant, has extensive experience in nonprofit and for-profit finances. In the nonprofit arena, she previously worked for Advocates for Homeless Families Inc. in Frederick, Md., and APPLES for Children in Hagerstown.

Sigler-Goldstein received her master's of business administration from Frostburg (Md.) State University's Hagerstown campus. She also holds a bachelor's degree from Shippensburg (Pa.) University and attended Hagerstown Community College.

Sigler-Goldstein is a member of the Maryland Association of CPAs and was the treasurer of the Boonsboro Elementary School PTA from 2008 to 2009.

ekm Inspirations



Norine Dagliano, a nationally certified rsum writer and job search coach and owner of ekm Inspirations, has received word that three of the rsums she has written have been accepted for publication in Barron's "Designing the Perfect Resume" by Pat Criscito.

This will be the 15th publication to feature samples of Dagliano's work.

The book is slated for release in November.

Penn State Mont Alto



MONT ALTO, Pa. - Angela Hissong, an occupational therapy faculty member at Penn State Mont Alto, will be a featured speaker this week at the 15th World Federation of Occupational Therapy Congress in Santiago, Chile.

The international conference is held every two years in different parts of the world. This year's theme is "Sharing the World of Occupation from Latin America."

Hissong will make two oral presentations - "Learning Self Nurturance and Unlearning Patriarchy: A Feminist Poststructural Narrative Inquiry of Rural Mothers' Constantly Shifting Identity" and "Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in Occupational Therapy."

Hissong will arrive in Chile a few days before the conference to visit a farming region outside of Santiago with a colleague from the University of North Dakota. They will talk to female farmers about ergonomics and the design of farm tools for women to use in agricultural production. They also will meet with a representative from the Colegio de Terapeutas Ocupacionales to discuss a cooperative online experience between their Chilean students and students at Penn State and the University of North Dakota.

Hissong previously has spoken in England and Canada.

CRESAPTOWN, Md. - Betty McDowell, an adviser with lia sophia, recently attended an incentive trip in Cancun, Mexico, after reaching sales and recruiting goals.

During the trip, advisers stayed at the Cancun Palace, an all-inclusive resort, where they took part in a private congratulatory celebration with other lia sophia achievers.

Lia sophia is a direct-sales company that offers fashion jewelry through personalized in-home demonstrations.

Graystone Wealth Management



HARRISBURG, Pa. - Amit R. Dogra recently joined the staff of Graystone Wealth Management as managing director and senior vice president.

Dogra will oversee all aspects of the wealth management department, providing strategic leadership for the organization. He also will oversee the development and expansion of Graystone's wealth management services through eastern and central Pennsylvania and select Maryland markets.

Dogra has more than 15 years of investment and wealth management experience. Before joining Graystone Wealth Management, he served as the senior sales director for BNY Mellon's Wealth Management group in the mid-Atlantic region. He also served as a regional director for Brinker Capitol and managing director of new business development for SEI Investments.

Dogra earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Boston College and holds NASD Series 6, 7, 63 and 66 licenses.
