Rebels win wild one over Blazers

Ben Stone had two of South Hagerstown's 20 hits, including a two-run, walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Rebels a 19-18 win over Clear Spring in an MVAL Antietam slugfest Thursday.

The teams combined for 36 hits and used nine pitchers.

South scored three in the bottom of the seventh, capped by a Jordan Nicewarner two-run single to tie Clear Spring at 15 and force extra innings. The Blazers plated three in the top of the eighth before South responded with four runs in the bottom of the frame to win the game.

Kenny Kitchen had three hits, including a first-inning homer, and five RBIs for the Rebels (10-6, 7-4). Luke Toms went 4-for-6 with three doubles, Tyeler Presgraves had three hits and four RBIs and Nicewarner, Timmy Hoover and Garrick Boward each added two hits.

Brandon Glazer led Clear Spring (11-2, 8-2) with four hits, while Brad Banzhoff had three hits and Joel Rowe and Brian Lesher each had two hits.

Ryne Willard added two hits and two RBIs, while Dylan Ianaro doubled twice for the Leopards (8-6, 5-6).

Chad Lowry had three hits and Kyle Smith had three RBIs for Heritage Academy, which scored 14 runs in the second inning en route to a victory over Calvary Christian.

John Kriner hit a two-run double and Andrew Harrell also drove in a pair for the Eagles (5-2).

Jay Donoghue's solo home run in the top of the sixth inning turned out to be the winning run as St. Maria Goretti edged Grace Academy.

Nic Martin (3-4) went the distance for the Gaels (8-13) scattering five hits and striking out 12.

Sean Koontz had two hits and Kenny Frederickson drove in two runs for Grace (4-5).

Kiracofe struck out eight and walked none for Greencastle (10-2). Josh Short had three hits and three RBIs and Dylan Schaeffer added a pair of hits.
