MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - William "Bill" B. Fischbach, 57, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at his residence.

Born July 27, 1952, in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of Shirley Pickett Mendelis of Randallstown, Md., and the late William V. Fischbach.

He received his bachelor of arts and master of arts degrees from Western Maryland College, and completed 30 hours of doctorate work at Catholic University.

He was a retired history teacher with Frederick County Public Schools, teaching from 1978 to 2006.

He was a member of the Maryland State Teachers Association, NRA, Adopt-a-Road Program, Washington County Museum of Fine Arts and Friends of Fort Frederick.


In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 32 years, Janice R. Jennings Fischbach; one son, Justin W. Fischbach and wife, Kristina, of Staunton, Va.; and one brother, Jeffrey Fischbach of Sparta, N.J.

He was preceded in death by a son, Christopher K. Fischbach.

A Celebration of Life service will be Saturday, May 8, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Shepherdstown Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Randy Tremba officiating.
