Waynesboro groups plan Kentucky Derby party

WAYNESBORO, Pa. -- Little Antietam Creek Inc. and Antietam Historical Association will host a Kentucky Derby party on Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m.

The party will be held at the 1912 Hoover House on West Main Street in Waynesboro. Activities will include a recorded presentation about the history of horse racing, a hat parade contest, and the televised running of the 136th Kentucky Derby at approximately 6:15 p.m.

Dinner will be served immediately following the race.

There are three levels of admission at $15, $45 and $75. The $45 admission includes a buffet supper, and the $75 one includes an "Old Kentucky dinner."

Little Antietam Creek Inc. is a nonprofit organization that is conducting an archeological excavation on the John Bourns farmstead near the Waynesboro Country Club. Antietam Historical Association, founded in 2006, is also a nonprofit organization that processes information regarding the region around Antietam Creek and its tributaries.
