Hagerstown seeking bicyclists for advisory committee

The City of Hagerstown is seeking people interested in volunteering to serve on the newly created Bicycle Advisory Committee.

Committee members must be residents, taxpayers or conduct business in Hagerstown and be interested in advancing bicycling in Hagerstown.

The Bicycle Advisory Committee will serve the city government in developing a safe bicycling environment. The committee is being formed as a result of the adoption of the Bicycle Master Plan.

Members serve two year terms. A meeting of the committee is anticipated monthly or bimonthly. Meetings will be in City Hall at 4 p.m.

Application deadline is Friday in the office of the city Clerk. Staff will provide a list of interested citizens to the City Council who will make the final selection. The city's goal is to have the committee selected and to begin meetings in June 2010.
