The winner was John Partington from Rosemont Elementary School, who correctly spelled "punctual" and "narrate" to win. The runner-up was Sara Brown from Berkeley Heights Elementary School.

The Martinsburg (W.Va.) City Schools' Third-Grade Spelling Bee was held at Winchester Avenue Elementary School in Martinsburg.

Thirty-three students from Berkeley Heights, Burke Street, Opequon, Rosemont, Tuscarora and Winchester Avenue elementary schools competed. The winner was John Partington from Rosemont Elementary School, who correctly spelled "punctual" and "narrate" to win.
