SEVERN, Md. - Samuel H. Wolford Jr., 76, a resident of Severn, Md., for 50 years, passed away April 26, 2010, due to natural causes.

Born in Fort Meade, Md., Samuel lived in Severn and attended Arundel Senior High, class of 1953.

He worked for 27 years as a postal carrier with the Severn Post Office. He was the recipient of the National Safety Council 25-year "Safe Driver Award."

He served in the United States Air Force for three years, and received the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.


Samuel was a member of the Elks Lodge in Severn and American Legion Post 276.

Some of his hobbies include fishing, hunting, playing Yahtzee and taking bus trips to Dover.

Samuel was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda M. Wolford; his parents, Samuel H. Wolford Sr. and Beulah Garmong Wolford; and one sister, Julia M. Shai.

He is survived by his former wife of 44 years, Marie E. Wolford; and loving children, Allen W. Wolford, Sandra J. Wolford, Anita M. Malinich of Severn, and Virginia E. McLane of Seville, Fla.

Visitation will be today and Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, 1 2nd Avenue SW (at Crain Highway), Glen Burnie, Md. The funeral ceremony will be Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
