GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Mr. Carl Manuel Dixon, 65, of 731 Ryan Lane, Greencastle, died at 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2010, in Julia Manor Nursing Home, Hagerstown. He had been in ill health since February.

Born Dec. 7, 1944, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late Jack and Geneva (Calloway) Dixon.

He was a lifelong resident of Greencastle.

Mr. Dixon graduated with the 1962 class of Greencastle-Antrim High School.

He and his wife, Peggy Romaine (Watson) Dixon, were married Aug. 7, 1964, in Mercersburg, Pa. After their marriage, they established their home in Greencastle. Mrs. Dixon died Oct. 13, 2001.

Mr. Dixon was employed as a warehouse worker for General Motors, Martinsburg, W.Va., for 30 years before retiring in 1998.

He was a member of UAW, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, coaching Little League, and umpiring baseball games in the Greencastle and Washington County, Md., leagues.


Mr. Dixon is survived by three daughters, Terry L. Gantz, Hagerstown, Cindy K. Dixon, Greencastle, and Heather J. Dixon, Hagerstown; a son, Carl P. Dixon, Waynesboro; four grandchildren, Sean Dixon, Evan Dixon, Demetrius Stubbs and Jamin Broadus; a great-granddaughter, Alexa Jones; two sisters, Judy Jones, Waynesboro, and Jackie Dixon, Greencastle; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 30, 2010, at Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle, with the Rev. Darnell Montgomery and the Rev. Diane L. Jefferson officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
