Mary Columba (Castellucci) Wetzel, 86, of Hagerstown, Md., died Monday, April 26, 2010, at her home.

Born Jan. 22, 1924, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Biagio Blaise and Adeline (Calandrelle) Castelucci.

She was the wife of 46 years to the late Raymond Edward Wetzel Sr., who died June 1, 1988.

Mary was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, the North American Rod & Gun Club Auxiliary and Sodality.

She was a life member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hagerstown.

Mary enjoyed music, playing cards and crossword puzzles.

Mary is survived by three daughters, Deborah A. Carbaugh of Hagerstown, Adele F. Russell of Murrells Inlet, S.C., and Donna M. Doub of Bear, Del.; three sons, Raymond E. Wetzel Jr., Gary W. Wetzel and David B. Wetzel, all of Hagerstown; two sisters, Francis Stup of Frederick, Md., and Josephine Mendez of Bayonne, N.J.; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.


The Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 30, 2010, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hagerstown. The Rev. Fr. J. Collin Poston will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 29, 2010, at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown, with the recitation of the rosary to begin at 7:30 p.m.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 224 W. Washington St., Hagerstown MD 21740.

The Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, Bryan K. Kenworthy P.A., 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
