The baskets will be filled. The doors open at 1 p.m. and the first game is at 2 p.m. Food will be available for purchase.

Flag disposal

In conjunction with Flag Day, Dixon Troxell American Legion Post 211 has scheduled a flag-disposal ceremony for Saturday, June 12, at 1 p.m. at the pavilion near the post home.

For the troops

Last Christmas, the Funkstown American Legion made sure the troops felt the support of the community. More than 300 pounds of toiletries, snacks and other necessities were supplied.

From June 1 to 20, the post will collect toiletries, snacks, drinks and other supplies to be sent by July 4.

Some desired items are granola bars, beef jerky, instant soup, gum and hard candy.

Needed toiletries include razors, shaving cream, lip balm, tissues, hand sanitizer, deodorant and powder.

Magazines, stationery, phone cards and white tube socks also are needed.
