April 27, 2010

ADAMSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Three men who allegedly held machetes to the throats of some teenage campers face assault and robbery charges in Frederick County, Md.

Zachary Lee, 21, of Hagerstown, and Nicholas Cann, 21, and George Carroll, 22, both of Frederick, Md., are charged in the Saturday incident at a primitive campsite along the Monocacy River near Tuscarora.

The alleged victims were two girls and two boys, ages 15 to 17, from Frederick, Walkersville, Md., and Keymar, Md. They told police that the defendants, who were camping nearby, threatened them with machetes and a baseball bat, and took their money before sheriff's deputies arrived in response to a 911 call.

Attorney Richard Bricken, who represented Cann at a bond review hearing Monday, said further investigation was needed.
