WILLIAMSPORT, Md. - Janet Mildred Boggs, of Williamsport, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2010, to be with her eternal Savior.

She was the beloved wife for nearly 57 years of Gary D. Boggs, also of Williamsport.

Janet was born Dec. 9, 1934, in Burlington, Vt., to Rollin and Doris Prior.

She spent her early life and graduated from high school in 1952 in Richmond, Vt.

Janet married Gary on Aug. 16, 1953, and together they embarked on a 20-year career in the United States Air Force. During this period, they were blessed with two children, Deborah Ellen Boggs, now Mrs. Timothy Flanigan of Bedford, Pa., and Steven Gary Boggs, now married to the former Deborah Ann Coble of Williamsport.

In 1971, Janet and Gary retired from the Air Force and remained in Maryland, raised their children while Gary worked for Montgomery Ward for some 20-plus years.


Janet worked as a secretary and salesclerk for a short time, and was always the devoted wife and mother, always caring for the needs of others, not her own. She loved the Lord, her family and friends, and she will truly be missed.

Janet leaves a brother, Gary Prior, and his wife, Gwen, of Raleigh, N.C.; her sister Marlene Prior, who married William Rivas, now deceased, of Richmond, Va.; her sister Elaine Prior Finchum, and her husband, Robert, of Smyrna, Tenn.; sister SueAnn Seals and husband, Jeff, of Florida; along with nurmerous nieces and nephews.

Also remaining are grandchildren, Summer Briann Boggs, wife of Darren Walling of Hagerstown, and Seth Garyson Boggs of Williamsport.

For the convenience of family and friends, Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, will be open Wednesday, April 28, 2010, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Graveside services will be Thursday, April 29, 2010, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. W. Gregory Martin officiating at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 127 Britner Ave., Williamsport.
