FREDERICK, Md. - Mr. Fred E. Thaeter, 89, of Frederick, died Saturday April 24, 2010, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
He was the husband of the late Margie P. Thaeter.
Born June 5, 1920, in Toronto, Canada, he was the son of the late Charles and Elsie Fuller Thaeter.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a first grade stationary engineer for 30 years at Fort Detrick and a stationary engineer for the Maryland School for the Deaf.
He was a life member and past post commander of AMVETS Post 2, life member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles 1067, a member of the Redman Chippewa Tribe 19 and VFW Frederick Post 2.
Surviving are two daughters, Stacy Myers and husband, Mathew, of Knoxville, and Sue Ford of Frederick; grandchildren, Angela Vaughn, Kimberly Abrecht and Douglas Collins Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Jazmine Crummel, and Kayla and Austin Vaughn. He also is survived by his companion, Pauline Mangin; and lifetime family friends, Paula and Jean Wiles.
