Saint Mary Catholic School marks anniversary

Saint Mary Catholic School in Hagerstown is celebrating its 135th year this week. On Thursday, an anniversary Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m.

TOPS 308

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 308 had a good week with only a 2 1/4-pound gain and losses of 8 pounds.

The no-no food for the week was ice cream. Anyone who had ice cream had to pay 25 cents for each time they ate it. The Ha Ha prize was won by Lois Wolford.

Mary Stuller showed the group exercises to help strengthen their legs.

Mary, Donna and Lois won prizes for the silly paper games.

The members then discussed what TOPS means to them and about losing weight, and how difficult it is to lose and keep it off.

The group meets at Christ Lutheran Church, at 216 N. Cleveland Ave. in Hagerstown. Weigh in is from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m. and the meeting is from 6 to 7 p.m. For more information, call June at 301-582-4821, Virginia at 301-733-1296 or Marie at 301-824-3245.

TOPS 0446

Congratulations to new member, Carole, who was the thinner winner with a 4.2-pound loss. The chapter welcomed new member Pablo and returning member Gary.

Mary challenged the group to join her in following the TOPS guidelines book, "The Choice is Mine," which produces results when followed. She also invited any interested members to walk with her on a regular basis.

At the next meeting, Mary Jo Kemper, a KOPS member from TOPS Chapter 0077, will tell her story about weight-loss success.

Meetings are Wednesdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., with weigh-in beginning at 8:45 a.m., at Shiloh United Methodist Church, 19731 Shiloh Church Road, Hagerstown.
