HAGERSTOWN -- Destin Hood drove in four runs, including two key runs in the seventh inning, on Sunday to help the Hagerstown Suns take an 8-6 victory over the Delmarva Shorebirds at Municipal Stadium.

Hagerstown (9-9) used a five-run third inning to erase a 3-0 deficit and used Hood to provide the needed cushion for victory.

The Suns got to Delmarva starter Matt Hobgood (0-1) in the third as a Francisco Soriano grounder and Sean Nicol's single moved the Suns to within 3-2.

After singles by Steven Souza and Justin Bloxom, Hood came to the plate with the bases loaded. Hobgood uncorked a pair of run-scoring wild pitches before Hood's single to center scored Bloxom for the 5-3 lead.

Hood added a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning to pad the Suns' lead and finished off Hagerstown's scoring in the seventh with a two-run, two-out double to right off Delmarva reliever Nathan Moreau for an 8-3 lead.

The Shorebirds (10-8) tried to come back as Ty Kelly homered off Kyle Morrison in the eighth to make it an 8-4 game.

Michael Ohlman and Garabez Rosa hit two-out RBI doubles off Morrison in the ninth. The Suns turned to Dean Weaver, who came on to strike out T.J. Baxter to end the game and earn his second save.

Glenn Gibson (2-1) got the win for Hagerstown with two innings of scoreless relief of Hagerstown starter Trevor Holder. Gibson struck out three, before giving way to Morrison. Holder lasted four innings, allowing three runs (two earned), while striking out three.

Hood and Bloxom had two hits each to lead the Suns.
