OCEAN CITY, Md. - The Hagerstown Heat All Stars Competitive Cheer and Dance team's Small Youth Cheer Level 4 Team, known as Sizzle, won the title at a competition in Ocean City.

The squad had four teams compete in the event and Sizzle won the championship.

There were more than 300 teams at the event, all ages, levels and divisions. Sizzle was in a division by itself, but still was required to beat a set score (75 percent of the perfect score of 300; 75 percent would be 225). The team scored a 234 on Saturday and a 236 on Sunday.

They are the youngest team in the area performing at this level.

The team consists of 13 team members, ages 11 and younger. They practice twice a week. They earned a first place bid to attend the U.S. Finals in Virginia Beach, Va., on May 1 and 2.

The Heat's Small Senior Open Level 5 Team, known as X-PLOSION placed second out of four teams and also advances to the U.S. Finals with a full-paid bid it earned at a previous event.

The Heat also has a Small Mini Level 1 Team, known as Energy, and a Large Senior Open Level 4.2 Team known as Fire, which is also attending the finals on a first-place bid.

The squad worked hard all season and is looking forward to the finals.
