Parks hits walk-off homer for Leopards

SMITHSBURG -- Brooke Parks hit a game-winning solo home run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, lifting Smithsburg to a 4-3 victory over St. Maria Goretti on Thursday.

Cara Ferguson also hit a solo homer for the Leopards (6-4), while winning pitcher Shayla Murray had four hits and Danielle Beaver had two hits.

Caroline Rosenthal had nine strikeouts, Cassie Rzomp and Courtney Dorsey had two hits each and Colleen Costello had a triple for the Gaels (1-9).

THURMONT, Md. -- Alexis Fisher and Kayla Ewing each had a home run for Williamsport's only two runs in an eight-inning loss to Catoctin.

Brittany Heller added two hits for the Wildcats (6-4).

WAYNESBORO, Pa. -- Katie Zak tossed a two-hitter and Waynesboro pounded Northern in a run-rule game with a 16-hit attack.

Dani Miller led the onslaught with three hits and three RBIs. Hannah Zimmerman, Megan Baker, Margaret Weber, Emily Masters and Erin Lisko each had two hits. Baker and Weber each drove in two runs.

Zak struck out eight as the Maidens raised their record to 12-1.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- Matt Timoney was given two runs to work with in the first inning and he made them stand, twirling a four-hit shutout to beat Martinsburg.

Timoney struck out six and scattered four hits without walking a batter in winning his fourth game of the year.

The Blue Storm (7-3-1) pushed across two runs off Zach Woolcock to open the game when Timoney and Cesar Wong singled, Sam Rodgers walked and Josh Muller delivered a two-run single.

Woolcock allowed six hits, walked only two and struck out 11 for Martinsburg (15-5).

CATOCTIN, Md. -- Hunter Phillips had eight goals and four assists as South Hagerstown lost to Catoctin.

Jeremiah Johnson had three goals, Warrens Remy had a goal and two assists, Chris Quante had a goal and Drake Kessell had 15 saves and an assist for the Rebels (0-8).

MIDDLETOWN, Md. -- Andy Baker and Andrew Barnhart combined for four saves for North Hagerstown in a loss to Middletown.
