FREDERICK, Md. - Barbara Ann Locke, 60, of Frederick, passed on to her eternal savior April 19, 2010, at the Kline Hospice House, surrounded by her family, after a nine-month battle with melanoma cancer.

She was the wife of nearly 38 years of Michael A. Locke.

Born July 23, 1949, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Robert W. and Viola Grabill.

Barbara worked for Pantry Pride years ago, Studio 20 Printing and, for the last nine years, caring for one of her three precious grandsons, Collin Bitler.

Barbara's life was centered around her beautiful home, which she loved to take care of, as well as her precious grandsons Chase, Chad and Collin. Barbara had a very special bond with both of her daughters and was always thinking about and caring for others' needs and not her own. She had many special friends, who were also a special part of Barbara's life. Barbara was a member of Christ Reformed Church UCC in Middletown.


In addition to her husband, Barbara is survived by her daughters, Melissa LeClair and husband, Frank, of Frederick, and Michelle Bitler and husband, Jeremy, also of Frederick. She was the MeMa/Nana of Chase LeClair, Chad LeClair and Collin Bitler. Barbara is also survived by her aunt, Jesse Oden, of Frederick; brother-in-law, Bill Locke and wife, Beverly, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; sister-in-law, Bunny Cramer of Myersville; sister-in-law, Gail Owings and Len Patrick of Woodstock; and aunt, Betty Wise of Frederick.

She was preceded in death by her twin sisters, Mary Catherine Grabill and Betty Virginia Grabill.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 22, in the chapel at Christ Reformed Church, 12 S. Church St., Middletown, MD 21769. A funeral service celebrating her life will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 23, in the chapel at the same location. The Rev. Mark Wakefield will officiate. Interment will follow in Christ Reformed Church Cemetery, Middletown. Pallbearers will be AI Smith, Michael Kefauver, Tommy Lawson, Sonny Stine, Barry Bussard and Paul Brunner.
