Garden club



Clear Spring Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting Thursday at 7 p.m. at St. John's UCC. Guest speaker Marian James will show how to make basket arrangements from live and cut flowers.

Library event



Clear Spring Library will hold "Poe" Movie Night at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. For information, call 301-842-2730.

Also, Friday is a half dayof school so enjoy a half dayof play at the Clear Spring Library. The library's community room will have Guitar Hero World Tour and the Wii set up. Games will be rated T and E.

FFA event



Mark your calendars for free family fun, sponsored by the Clear Spring High School FFA Chapter and FFA Alumni. The National Pike Day Festival will be Saturday, May 15, at Clear Spring High School, and the FFA is planning activities that day.

The FFA is seeking vendors, crafters and yard sale providers at $10 a space. The group is also seeking antique tractors and classic cars for the shows. For more information, call Mary Reid at 301-842-3749.

The high school greenhouse will be open for plant sales. There will be a petting farm, face painting, pedal tractor racing and more. A tug-of-war contest will include a $100 prize for first place and $50 for second. Fertile Soil will play a free concert. The wagon train parade begins at 9 a.m. The National Pike Day Parade, hosted by the Town of Clear Spring, begins at 10 a.m.

Did you know?



Did you know that Clear Spring had a cornet band? In the early 1900s, Clear Spring had a cornet band with about 20 members. Band directors were Harry Tosten and Professor Brown. The band met above Pop Jamison's Chicken Pie and Fried Oyster Sandwich Shop in the center of town on Main Street.

Milestones



Happy birthday to Chloe and Chase Weaver. Chloe is 8 today. Chase will turn 6 on Friday. I hope you both enjoy your day.
