Gospel concert May 8 to benefit local art gallery

Contemporary School of the Arts & Gallery Inc. will present Music for Mother's Day - A Gospel Concert Fundraiser Saturday, May 8, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bridge of Life Church at 14 S. Potomac St. in downtown Hagerstown.

The list of performers for the event includes Kelly Wright, co-anchor of "America's News Headquarters" on Saturdays from New York and a general assignment correspondent for Fox News. Wright recently authored "America's Hope in Troubled Times" and has released several CDs of Christian music.

Karensa Gray, of Waynesboro, Pa., will also perform. Gray was the 2009 Billie Holiday Vocal Competition winner and was a Momentum Award Jazz Artist of the Year Finalist in 2008 and 2009.

Other artists who will perform include Lori Williams, Pastor McFarland, Jennifer Gayle, Heather Gayle, Lil' Spence, Jermaine Cain, Precious Jewels, Miranda Brown, Genesis Ministry and Anthony Whigham.

"We are thrilled to bring together such a talented group of gospel performers," said Ron Lytle, founder of CSAGI. "This evening will be a must-see musical performance."

The event is sponsored by the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau and the City of Hagerstown. Tickets for the concert cost $10 for adults and $7 for those 18 and younger. Those 5 and younger will be admitted free. Tickets can be purchased at the Visitors Welcome Center in downtown Hagerstown at 6 N. Potomac St. (phone 301-791-3246) or at the gallery, at 4 W.
