Travelogue series

The Kiwanis Club of Hagerstown concludes its 35th season of the Travelogue series with "Wales: Land of Song," Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the South Hagerstown High School auditorium.

The presenters will be Monte and Marsha Brown.

Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for students.

Church to hold auction

Ebenezer Christian School's annual auction will be Thursday, April 29, at 6 p.m. The school is at 17618 Virginia Ave. in Hagerstown.

Items for the auction include furniture, vacations/getaways, gift certificates to local businesses, household items and crafts. Proceeds benefit the school. For more information, call 301-791-4801.


Spring rummage sale

St. John's Lutheran Church, at 141 S. Potomac St. across from the library in downtown Hagerstown, will hold its spring rummage sale Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Items for purchase include gently used clothing, books, toys and household items.

A light lunch will be available for purchase, and desserts will be sold. All proceeds from the sale will go to mission work. For more information, contact the church office at 301-790-2510.

Locust Point

The Locust Point Neighborhoods 1st group will meet today from 5 to 6 p.m. at City Hall in room 407.

The meeting is open to all Neighborhoods 1st groups in the city.

Card party to help Holly Place

The Women's Club will hold a luncheon and card party to benefit Holly Place Wednesday at noon at the club at 31 S. Prospect St.

Reservations can be made by calling the club at 301-739-0870. Tickets cost $12.

Holly Place is a low-cost residential home for senior citizens on South Potomac Street.

Floral Fantasy

The Women's Club will hold its Floral Fantasy on Saturday, May 1, at 6 p.m. at Academy Theatre Banquet & Conference Center, 58 E. Washington St., Hagerstown.

There will be a buffet dinner and silent auction of garden and spring-inspired merchandise, artwork and gift baskets. Tickets cost $30 per person and can be reserved by calling the club at 301-739-0870.

Discovery Station

Saturday - Alison Davies, a language educator, presents "Springtime in France" at 2 p.m.

Rockland Woods Elementary School

Congratulations to Terra Grove and Tammy Marriner for receiving Teacher of the Year nominations. Marriner is one of five finalists for the 2009-10 award.

The school's student talent show will be Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Tickets cost $2 per person on the night of the show. A full concession stand will be available.

The PTO will hold a general meeting Wednesday at 7 p.m. Nominations for committee positions for next year will be accepted. All positions are available and will be elected by ballot Thursday, May 13, at Chuck E. Cheese's Family Night.
