GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Steven N. Barnhart, 50, of 352 E. Grant St. in Greencastle, Pa., died Thursday, April 15, 2010, at 7:50 a.m. at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md. He had been in declining health and critically ill the last few weeks.

Born Jan. 29, 1960, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of Donald E. and Joan H. (Hager) Barnhart of Chambersburg, Pa.

He currently was the executive of operations for Antietam Health Services of Hagerstown and formerly was employed by Washington County Hospital. He also operated Steven N. Barnhart CPA services in Greencastle.

Steven was a 1978 graduate of Chambersburg High School and a 1982 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He earned his master of business administration from Shippensburg (Pa.) University and was a certified public accountant in Maryland and Pennsylvania.


He served as a Way Station board member in Frederick, Md., president of the board of Healthcare Family Credit Union and was an Antietam Health Services board member.

He had attended Marion United Methodist Church.

He and his wife, Mary Lou R. (Rinehart), were married April 14, 1984, in Greencastle.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his daughter, Katie A. Barnhart of Greencastle; two sons, Zach N. Barnhart and Matt S. Barnhart, both of Greencastle; brother, Mike L. Barnhart of Chambersburg; mother-in-law, Ruth L. Rinehart of Greencastle; six sisters-in-law; five brothers-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 21, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 45 N. Washington St., Greencastle, with Pastor Stacy Crawford officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.

There will be no public viewing, but the family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the education fund of the Barnhart children with funds being made payable to Mary Lou Barnhart and sent or delivered to M&T Bank, 643 E. Baltimore St., Greencastle, PA 17225.
