Rabies shots May 1 at Humane Society

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. -- George Farnham, president of the Humane Society of Morgan County, told the Morgan County Commission on Thursday that $10 rabies shots and $10 microchips are available for pets on Saturday, May 1 from 9 a.m. to noon.

"It's a community service," he said, "and you do not have to reside in Morgan County to participate."

Cats should be in carriers and dogs on leashes, he said.

Road maintenance association approved

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. -- The Mahnes Church Lane-Homewood Hollow Lane road maintenance association was approved Thursday by the Morgan County Commission with one exception.

Mahnes Methodist Church is exempt from joining the association and having to pay the $100 annual fee, Commission President Brenda J. Hutchinson said.

Attorney Glen Stotler, who represents the association members, asked the members in the commission meeting if that was acceptable, and they agreed.

Mahnes Church and Homewood Hollow Lanes are east of Berkeley Springs.
