Jeannette Marion Renz, 88, of 13414 Paramount Terrace, Hagerstown, Md., passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at her home.

Born July 30, 1921, in Newark, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Michael and Perenia Warnetzke.

Jeannette graduated from Columbia High School, Maplewood, N.J. Among her accomplishments and affiliations: She was a member of The First Ukrainian Presbyterian Church of America, where she was an active member of the traveling choir, singing only in native Ukrainian. The choir was invited twice to sing in the Easter program at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. During World War II, she became one of the first female employees of Bell Telephone Laboratory NYC, New York, and attained the position of supervisor of correspondence files. In 1964, Jeannette completed her licensure for the Maryland Board of Realtors and was a Realtor until 1991, when she retired.


A loving wife and dedicated mother, Jeannette balanced her time and devotion between family and career equally.

Jeannette is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Carl Gustav Renz; her daughter, Deborah Christina Young and son-in-law, W.R. Young; brothers-in-law, Thomas Reagan and Fred Renz; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Renz; a niece, Daria Reagan Bushier; and nephews, Michael Reagan and Fred Renz.

Family will receive friends Friday, April 16, 2010, from 11 a.m. to noon at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD 21742.

Graveside services will follow at approximately noon at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown, Md., with Rev. Cal Scholl and the Rev. Steve Taylor officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
