Dunkin' Donuts opens

A new Dunkin' Donuts restaurant and drive-through has opened for business in the Oak Ridge Shopping Center across from M&T Bank on Downsville Pike.

Aviation event at mall

Hagerstown Aviation Museum will have an aviation exhibit at Valley Mall, starting Monday.

The weeklong exhibit will include displays and information dedicated to preserving area aviation history. The exhibits will be at the mall through Sunday, April 25.

Blue Band night

Williamsport Blue Band Night will be Wednesday, April 21, at the Western Sizzlin' restaurant on York Road in Halfway.


The restaurant will give credit for any orders placed with a Blue Band flier that day. The money raised will be used to pay for the band's uniforms. For more information, e-mail">

School open house

Hickory Elementary School will host an open house for incoming kindergarten students Thursday, April 22.

Students will get to meet the kindergarten teachers, see the kindergarten classrooms, take a tour of the school, visit the book fair and also be a part of the multilingual reading night. The book fair and reading night are for the entire school, as well.

The open house will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Church to host speaker

Virginia Avenue Church of God in Halfway will host a guest speaker Sunday, April 25, at 6 p.m.

Bonnie Floyd, a national speaker for retreats, conferences and congregations will bring her message of the Scriptures to the area. Floyd has worked with Women of Faith and is executive administrator for Christian singer Sheila Walsh. The public is invited to attend the service. A free-will offering will be received. Mega yard sale to benefit Blue Band

The third annual Yard Sale Extravaganza to benefit the Williamsport Blue Band will be Saturday, May 1, near the football field at Williamsport High School.

The event will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine. Yard sale events are planned along with a bake sale and concessions. Donations of yard sale items (no large electronics, TVs or computers) and children's clothing (size infant to 6x) are still being accepted. Students recognized

Students at Hickory Elementary School who demonstrated the six pillars of character received an award for their efforts.
