CLEAR SPRING - Charles Edward "Rebel" "Poney" Gordon, 82, of Clear Spring, Md., died Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at his home.

Born May 28, 1927, in Clay Hill, Pa., he was the son of the late Melvin and Nettie Kaetzel Gordon.

He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Corduba.

He was employed with the Pennsylvania Railroad, Bester & Long, and Smith's Trucking Co.

He was a member of Fairview Wesleyan United Methodist Church since 1985.

He was a member of Teamsters No. 991 and the American Legion, Greencastle, Pa.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Commer Gordon, who was born in Charleston, W.Va.; two sisters, Helen Carpenter and Fannie Rouzer, both of Hagerstown; two brothers, Glen Gordon of Cearfoss and George Gordon of Hagerstown; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Lou Troia; one sister, Hazel Bitner; and one brother, Ray Gordon.


Funeral services will be held at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, on Friday at 1 p.m. Pastor Robert Luther will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
