Basket bingo set for May 2



The Funkstown Lions Club and Funkstown School for Early Childhood Education will hold a Longaberger basket bingo at Funkstown Fire Hall on Sunday, May 2.

Doors open at 1 p.m. and the first game is at 2. There will be 25 games, including five specials and all baskets will be filled. There will be door prizes, 50/50, raffles and tip jars.

Tickets cost $20 and can be purchased in advance by calling 301-790-2440 or 302-223-8845. Tickets will be available at the door. Food will be available.

Cooking demonstration



The Women's Club on South Prospect Street will hold a cooking demonstration Thursday at the club.

Chef Francis Verdier, from Applause Catering/Academy Theater, will be preparing an appetizer, salad and dessert. Samples will be available for all participants. Tickets cost $12 and reservations can be made by calling the club at 301-739-0870.

Rabies clinics to be held in county



The Humane Society of Washington County will offer rabies and microchip clinics on Saturdays. The clinics will be held rain or shine and will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost will be $7 per animal for rabies inoculations and $15 per animal for microchips.

The clinics will be:

o April 24 - Boonsboro High School, 10 Campus Ave., Boonsboro

o May 29 - Hancock Middle/High School, 289 W. Main St., Hancock

o July 17 - Smithsburg Pride Days, Veterans Park (next to the library). Dog licenses available for $5 neutered/spayed and $15 for not spayed or neutered dogs

o Aug. 14 - Flealess Market/Dog Wash at the Humane Society, 13011 Maugansville Road, Hagerstown. Dog licenses available for $5 neutered/spayed and $15 for not spayed or neutered dogs.

o Sept. 25 - Doub's Woods Park, Bark in the Park, 1307 S. Potomac St. (use parking lot at Maryland Avenue entrance). Dog licenses available for $5 for neutered/spayed and $15 for not spayed or neutered dogs.

Ferrets must be vaccinated yearly.

Dogs must be leashed or in carriers. Cats and ferrets must be in carriers.
