FUNKSTOWN -- Former Williamsport Town Councilman Jeff Cline told the Funkstown mayor and Town Council at their Monday night meeting that he intends to run for Washington County Commissioner.

Mayor Robert Kline asked Cline why he was in attendance Monday night.

Cline, 53, of Williamsport, said he expects to make a formal announcement May 4 at the Academy Theatre Banquet & Conference Center in downtown Hagerstown. He is a part-time caterer for Applause Catering, which operates out of the theater.

Cline also is a Realtor for Fairbourn Real Estate and works part time at Castle's Liquors in Williamsport, he said.

He is a Republican.

According to the Washington County Board of Elections' Web site, three people have filed to run for commissioner. They are current Commissioners President John F. Barr, Washington County Board of Education member Ruth Anne Callaham and Bill McKinley.

A primary, if needed, would be in September. The general election is in November.
