Frederickson fans 11 as Grace beats CVCS

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- Kenny Frederickson pitched a complete game with 11 strikeouts, settling in after a rough start to lead Grace Academy to a 9-5 victory over Cumberland Valley Christian School in the Mason Dixon Christian Conference on Saturday.

Andy Michael, Sean Koontz and Danny Frederickson each had three hits for Grace (2-2, 1-2).

A.J. Dawson had two hits for CVCS.

TARBORO, N.C. -- Jay Donoghue had three hits and three RBIs for St. Maria Goretti in a loss to Roanoke Rapids at the Tarboro Easter Classic on Friday.

Vince Turano had three hits, Connor Grimsley had two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs and Aaron Wilkinson had two hits and two RBIs for the Gaels.

POTTSTOWN, Pa. -- Sam Rodgers had two hits, including a two-run homer to lead Mercersburg Academy past Hill School.

Chris Thorsen had six strikeouts and Cesar Wong and Josh Muller had two hits each for the Blue Storm (4-2-1).

POTTSTOWN, Pa. -- Mercersburg Academy scored seven runs in the top of the seventh to rally past Hill School, who gave up six walks in the inning.

Nikki Rhyne had three hits, including a home run, Sarah Duda had two hits, including a triple and Julie Garlick had two hits for Blue Storm (3-3).

Barnes wins 800 for 'Cats

MIDDLETOWN, Md. -- Williamsport's Renee Barnes won the girls 800-meter run 2:29.50 at the Don Boyer Invitational.

Also for the Wildcats, Julia Price placed second in the girls 1,600 (5:40.42) and Mark Oliver was third in the boys 1,600 (4:33.01). The Williamsport girls placed third in the 4x400 relay (4:19.91) and third in the 4x800 (10:36.79).

Smithsburg 15, Great Mills 3

GREAT MILLS, Md. -- Cullan Ganley and A.J. Minnich each had four goals to lead Smithsburg over Great Mills.

Ganley also had three assists and Minnich had one for the Leopards (3-3). Clayton Layman had two goals and an assist, Mark Chirdon had a goal and an assist and Mark Grove, Kevin Grimm, Taylor Valencia and Alex Sweeney each had one goal.

Nick Dilandro had six saves and Layman had three for Smithsburg. JV: Smithsburg, 13-1.

POTTSTOWN, Pa. -- Paige Harry had a goal and an assist for Mercersburg Academy in a loss to Hill School.

Liza Rizzo also scored and Jane Banta had eight saves for the Blue Storm (0-4). JV: Hill School, 7-1.

GREENCASTLE, Pa. -- Greencastle surrendered two goals to Alex Sheriff in the first three minutes in a loss to Boiling Springs.

Sarah Gipe had a goal and an assist, Sharon Juarez had a goal and Heather Sanders added an assist for the Blue Devils.
