HAGERSTOWN -- Tim Hoover had three hits, including a three-run homer, and five RBIs to lead South Hagerstown to a 14-8 victory over Williamsport on Friday in an MVAL Antietam baseball game.

"It is a big win any time that you beat a team in your conference," South coach Ralph Stottlemyer said. "Our hitting hasn't been a problem. We have been hitting the ball pretty good. We have been scoring a lot of runs. Our batting order is loaded with some good hitters."

The Rebels (4-4, 1-3) snapped a 5-5 tie by scoring seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Hoover singled to center and stole second to start the rally. One out later, Trevor Haupt slugged a two-run homer to left. Luke Toms reached on a dropped third strike and Garrick Boward singled to center. Kenny Kitchen followed with a single to left to knock in Toms. One out later, Jordan Nicewarner walked to load the bases.

Nick Stubbs followed with a two-run double to left. Hoover then ripped a two-run single to left for his second hit of the inning as South built a 12-5 lead.

Stubbs finished with two hits, two RBIs and three runs scored, while Haupt finished with two hits and three RBIs. Tyler Presgraves had three hits and Kitchen added two hits for the Rebels.

South starter Jordan Hatfield pitched the first 4 1/3 innings for the win. Rebels reliever Jordan Miller pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings and struck out five to get the save.

Jason Hammond had three RBIs for Williamsport (4-5, 2-2), while Zach Sauble had two hits and two RBIs and Connor Arnone had two hits and three runs scored for the Wildcats.

"They outhit us," Williamsport coach Larnie Vickers said. "South has a lot of good batters in the lineup. They put the ball in play and they got a lot of runs. They got the hits when they needed them."

The Wildcats took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first on a two-run homer by Hammond and a solo homer by Sauble.

The Rebels cut the lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the first on back-to-back RBI doubles by Presgraves and Haupt.

The Rebels took a 5-3 lead in the second on Hoover's three-run homer.

The Wildcats got two runs in the third on a throwing error and a sacrifice fly by Hammond to tie the score at 5-5.
