Arts briefs for April 8

Poetry contest deadline is Saturday, April 10

The Potomac Valley Audubon Society is asking local poets to submit poems that will be displayed as part of its annual Wildflower Festival, which will be held this year on Saturday, April 17.

The festival will be held at the Society's Yankauer Nature Preserve north of Shepherdstown, W.Va. The festival events will include a poetry walk with poems on spring themes.

Submit poems by e-mail at pvnaturewriters@gmail.com. Poems may also be dropped off at the Four Seasons Bookstore in Shepherdstown. The deadline for submissions is Saturday, April 10. For more information contact PVAS at 304-676-3397 or pvasmail@aol.com.

Shepherd announces W.Va. fiction contest

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Submissions for Shepherd University's eighth annual West Virginia Fiction Competition will be accepted until May 1. Award-winning Kentucky writer Bobbie Ann Mason will select the winning short stories.
