KEYMAR, Md. - Mrs. Josephine "Jo" B. Harner, 71, of Keymar, died suddenly Monday, April 5, 2010, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Born Nov. 6, 1938, at Otterdale Mill, she was the daughter of the late G. Paul and Helen Carrie Lambert Crouse.

She was the wife of William Ray Harner Sr., her husband of 52 years.

Mrs. Harner was a 1956 graduate of Elmer A. Wolfe High School, Union Bridge, Md., and a member of Mount Union Lutheran Church. She enjoyed yard work, collecting strawberries and cardinals, cooking and baking.


In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Diann L. Airing of Taneytown, Md.; a son, Wm. Ray Harner Jr. and wife Roberta of Keedysville; six granddaughters, Jessica N. Airing of Taneytown, Laura Cooper and husband Jason of Salisbury, Md., Julie Heuer and husband Jeff of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Monica, Sherry and Sandra Harner, all of Keedysville; four great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Thelma C. Reaver of Westminster, Md., and Deanna M. Sell of Taneytown; two brothers, Byron E. Crouse and wife Shirley of Taneytown and George H.U. Crouse of New Windsor, Md.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Wayne D. Crouse, and two brothers-in-law, John Reaver and James Sell.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 25, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge. The family will receive friends at the funeral home April 25 from 1 p.m. until time of service. Mrs. Harner's cherished cremains will remain with the family.
