Mrs. Mildred Rhodes Ricedorf, 92, formerly of Harrisonburg, Va., died at 4:59 Sunday afternoon, April 4, 2010, at the Wake Med at Cary in Cary, N.C.

A daughter of the late Alfred F. and Bertha Shadwell Rhodes, she was born in Harrisonburg on March 6, 1918. She had formerly made her home in Hagerstown, Md., for 38 years, where she ran the Fountain Shop "Millie's Snack Bar" for 15 years. Mrs. Ricedorf had also lived in Moorefield, W.Va., and Cumberland, Md., and settled in Harrisonburg in March 1997. She most recently had made her home with her daughter in Garner, N.C.

She was a member of the Garber's Church of the Brethren.

On Aug. 6, 1943, she married Bernard E. Ricedorf, who preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 1985.

She is survived by one son, Bernard E. Ricedorf Jr. and wife, Wendy, of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; one daughter, Barbara Sorensen and husband, Father Nicholas of Garner; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Jean Armentrout and Ann Coakley, both of Harrisonburg, and Helen Southerly of Moorefield, W.Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.


The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, at Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Walt Crull officiating. Burial will follow in the Linville UCC Cemetery.
