Boys basketball



Boonsboro Middle School's sixth-grade boys basketball team won the Washington County championship March 13. This was the first year that BMS had a sixth-grade team. Their record was 12-1. In addition to the winning record and championship, everyone on the team made the honor roll.

The team included Coach Ronnie Stewart, Coach John Ziniach, Coach Marvin Wetzel, Coach Mike Schnackenberg, players Tom Schnackenberg, Tyler Olson, Ryan Ziniach, Colin Mannix, Alex Wetzel, Owen Glass, Blake Dougherty, Devin Griffith, Dalton Stewart, Cole Menas and Matt Nolan, and mascots Camille and Ian.

Body and Soul



A new session of Body and Soul fitness begins Wednesday. The evening cardio/strength class is co-ed. The class will meet at Benevola United Methodist Church, at 19925 Benevola Church Road, on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7 p.m. The afternoon classes will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays at Benevola at 4:30 p.m. This class, for women, will start Thursday.

Workshop planned



A critical information inventory is a record of all of your important data.

Teresa Spruill, owner of Spruill Money Management and Organization Services, will explain the importance of consolidating the information that you want to remember and pass on to your loved ones in a workshop Tuesday, April 13, at 6:30 p.m. in the community room at Boonsboro Library.

PTA golf tournament



The Boonsboro Elementary School PTA will hold a golf tournament Friday, April 23, at Beaver Creek Country Club.

The tournament begins at 12:30 with a four-person, best ball scramble.

Registration costs $100 per person or $400 per team. The registration deadline is Friday. The fee includes long drive and closest to the pin contests with prizes, two beverage tickets, door prizes and lunch. All proceeds will benefit the BES media center. Yard sale



Benevola United Methodist Church will hold its annual yard sale Saturday, April 24, from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The church is between Boonsboro and Funkstown just off Alternate U.S. 40 at 19925 Benevola Church Road. The event will be held in the spiritual life center, rain or shine. Baked goods will also be on sale.

Zumba classes forming



Zumba classes will begin this month at St. Mark's Episcopal Church Parish House at 18313 Lappans Road.

"Ditch the Workout and Join the Party" is Tuesday at 5:30 and 6:45 p.m. and Wednesday at 5:30 and 6:45 p.m. It runs until Tuesday, June 29 and Wednesday, June 30.
