Brian Heacock who lives near Huyetts Crossroads, west of Hagerstown, caught these spotted salamanders on March 12. He says they come out in the spring at night, during a heavy rain after the first warm spell. Heacock and his children, Gage, 14, and Brandi, 12, have gone to the same road in Williamsport for the past four years to catch the salamanders. The Heacoks find the salamanders as the amphibans cross the road from the high ground where they go underground to spend the winter to the swampy areas. Heacock and his family take photos of them, and then release them back to the same area. He used a Polaroid i533 to take the photos.
