MARTINSBURG, W.VA. -- Martinsburg police and fire departments are investigating another arson in the city.

This one happened Sunday morning outside the International Beauty School, with smoke making it inside the building, said Greg Hoover, chief fire investigator with the Martinsburg Fire Department.

No one was injured, Hoover said.

Investigators are trying to determine if the fire is related to a string of arsons in the community this year, Hoover said. Some of those fires happened when an ignitable liquid was poured in mail slots and ignited, he said.

Hoover said investigators aren't sure how many of the 10 arsons reported so far are related -- Sunday's was the 10th. The recent string, which began in January, has occurred in the downtown Martinsburg area.

Sunday morning's fire was around 7 a.m.. A church member at Trinity Episcopal Church, on the corner of King and College streets, reported the fire, according to Hoover and a news release from Martinsburg Police Department.

Several pieces of furniture and trash to the rear of the building at 201 W. King St. were on fire, according to Hoover and the police release.

The damage extended into the building slightly as smoke made its way into the brick building around two closed windows, Hoover said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Martinsburg City Police at 304-264-2100.
