GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Mrs. Candice P. (Bennett) "Candy" Clopper, 52, of 12497 Gearhart Road, Greencastle, Pa., died at 8:10 p.m., Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center. Her death was unexpected and attributed to a brain aneurysm.

Born May 9, 1957, in Germany, she was the daughter of Louise (Dayhoff) Bennett and the late John M. Bennett. She moved to the Waynesboro area in 1976.

Candy graduated from Smithsburg High School with the class of 1975.

She and her husband, George A. Clopper Jr., were married March 18, 2006, at Eyler's Valley Chapel, Thurmont, Md. They moved to their present residence in 2006.

Candy worked at Citizens National Bank, Waynesboro, as a teller and secretary and later at York Federal Bank as a loan officer. She had been employed as executive director of the Antietam Humane Society, Waynesboro, for nearly 10 years and also helped her husband on their farm.


She was a member of the Thurmont Riding Club, where she served as secretary; the Maryland-Pennsylvania Horse Show Circuit, where she served as president; and Burns Hill Cemetery Board of Directors, where she served as treasurer. She was also a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and a Humane Society Police Officer.

Candy loved animals. She especially enjoyed riding horses.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two stepdaughters, Angela D. Touhey and her husband, Thomas, of Hagerstown, and Sherry D. DiSanto and her husband, Vincent, of King of Prussia, Pa.; five grandchildren, Sarah Touhey, Anna Touhey, Sean Touhey, Isabella DiSanto and Max DiSanto; one sister, Mary K. Porterfield and her husband, David, of Greencastle; and two nephews.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Pastor Lin Smalec officiating.

Burial will follow in Welty Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Smithsburg, Md.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
