Easter weekend

A full weekend is scheduled at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Funkstown.

Good Friday services are at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. today.

On Saturday at 11 a.m., an Easter egg hunt will be held for those ages 2 to 12. Bring a basket for the eggs.

On Saturday at 7 p.m., there will be an Easter vigil service.

Sunday's Easter services are at 7 and 9 a.m.

Items sought for animal shelter

The Humane Society of Washington County is asking for donations for the plethora of new puppies that are headed its way.

The shelter is in need of bags of Pedigree puppy food and stuffed dog toys.

The shelter would like to thank those who have already generously donated items for kittens and are pleased to report they are well stocked for their feline residents.

Happy birthday

Happy birthday wishes to Miss Elsie Smith Evans, who turned 93 March 31.

Miss Evans has been a resident of our town since 1920 when her family moved here from Pennsylvania.

Softball for seniors

The Washington County Senior Softball League is holding practice and registration from April 5 to 22 each Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at the City Park ball fields at 5:30 p.m. The league is open to those 50 and older.
