Fahrney-Keedy Home & Village



BOONSBORO - Ellen Catlett and William Wantz recently joined the board of directors at Fahrney-Keedy Home & Village.

Catlett is a retired registered nurse. She earned her A.A. degree in nursing from Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, W.Va.

Wantz practices law in Washington County. He is a graduate of Dickinson College and the Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, Pa.

Catlett and Wantz are serving on the Fahrney-Keedy board's Long-Range Planning Committee.

Washington County Free Library



HANCOCK - Marilyn Pontuis, manager of the Hancock branch of the Washington County Free Library, recently was awarded a full scholarship to the University of Tennessee School of Information Sciences.

The scholarship was awarded through the Rural Library Professionals as Change Agents in the 21st Century: Integrating Information Technology Competencies in the Southern and Central Appalachian Region program funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Pontuis will complete her studies and earn a master of science degree in information technology in the summer of 2012.

Summit Physician Services



CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Frank Mozdy, M.D., chief medical officer for Summit Physician Services, recently earned the Fellow in Hospital Medicine (FHM) designation from the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM).

To be designated as a Fellow in Hospital Medicine, an applicant must serve as a hospitalist for at least five years; be a member of SHM for at least three years; and demonstrate dedication to quality and process improvement, commitment to organizational teamwork and leadership, and lifelong learning and education.

Mozdy practices medicine with the Hospitalists of Franklin County, which treats patients at Chambersburg Hospital and Waynesboro (Pa.) Hospital, both affiliates of Summit Health. He joined the Hospitalists of Franklin County in 2005 after 19 years of private practice in Erie, Pa.

Mozdy was named chief medical officer for Summit Physician Services in 2009.

Mozdy holds an MBA in the physician executive program from the University of Tennessee and received his doctor of medicine degree from Hahnemann Medical University.

Edward Jones



J. Greg Garner of the financial services firm Edward Jones in Hagerstown has been authorized by the Certified Financial Planner (CFB) Board of Standards to use the CFP certification mark.

Garner completed the CFP board's initial certification requirements, which include completion of financial planning course work and passing a comprehensive examination.

Individuals who hold CFP certification must agree to meet ongoing continuing education requirements and uphold the CFP board's code of ethics and professional responsibility and financial planning practice standards.

Green Concrete Works



Michael Green and John Green, local owner-operators of Green Concrete Works, recently attended the World of Concrete Show in Las Vegas.

They attended classes and workshops learning the latest techniques in acid staining, sealing and decorative concrete. They also purchased a sophisticated concrete polisher, which will enable them to polish and design regular concrete.

Russo attended California (Pa.) University, graduated from the PBA Advance School of Banking at Bucknell University and has taken continuing education courses through Shippensburg University.

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Peggy Hays and James Stoneham of the Greencastle office of Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA recently were recognized as Agents of the Month for February.

Hays was recognized in the three years and over in the business category, and Stoneham was recognized in the three years and under in the business category.

The award was given based on the number of listings taken, sales made and closed sales; attendance at Realtor functions; and continuing education classes completed.
