Salem Avenue holds math/science night

A combined math/science night was held March 25 at Salem Avenue Elementary School.

The focus of the evening was to understand how math is connected to other areas of the curriculum and how it is applied in real life.

The night included seven math and science activities, which were geared toward a variety of grade levels. Each one involved a student-centered activity, which parents and students completed as a team.

Bake sale planned

On Saturday, the Ladies Auxiliary of Hagerstown Rescue Mission will hold a bake sale from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Rescue Mission store in Hagerstown.

The bake sale will include filled Easter baskets.

Senior citizens to meet

The West End Senior Citizens Club will meet Thursday, April 8, at 10:30 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church.

The meeting will include a presentation from Mike Weller, safety officer for the Hagerstown Fire Department. He will discuss a grant that has been received to help senior citizens have safe homes.

Arc of Washington County

The Arc of Washington County Florida Avenue Vocational Day Program will hold its annual spring craft bazaar Friday, April 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Vocational Day Program, 840 Florida Ave. in Hagerstown.

The bazaar will feature fresh plants and flowers, homemade bread and baked goods, country style needle crafts and gifts. Also featured will be raffles for baskets and packages, including a gardener's basket. In addition, a limited edition hardback book about Jimmie Johnson and the Lowe's Racing Team will be raffled off.

All money raised from the bazaar will go toward activities for the individuals in the day program.

Bible college registration

Antietam Bible College, Biblical Seminary and Graduate School, at 15 High St. in Hagerstown, has announced registration for the summer session, which begins June 1, and the fall semester, which begins Aug. 16.

In addition, the school will present a sacred music concert Friday, April 16, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 601 Washington Ave. in Hagerstown. An offering will be received to benefit the college.

Basket bingo planned

Antietam Volunteer Fire Co.'s Ladies Auxiliary will host a basket bingo Sunday, April 11, at Western Enterprise Fire Co. Tickets cost $20 per person. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. and bingo begins at 1:30.
