Undercover drug probe leads to arrests

HAGERSTOWN -- Two Hagerstown men were arrested Monday following an undercover drug transaction on Jonathan Street involving the Washington County Narcotics Task Force, according to Washington County District Court records.

David James Daniels, 54, of 140 W. Franklin St., and Roy Lee Easterling III, 43, of 160 W. Washington St., Apt. 1, both were charged with distribution of a narcotic, conspiracy to distribute a narcotic and other charges, according to court records.

Daniels and Easterling were arrested after the narcotics task force used a confidential narcotics informant to conduct a drug investigation, according to court records.

About 7:20 p.m., the informant made contact with Daniels, who stated he could obtain crack cocaine, according to allegations in court records. Daniels later climbed into the informant's car and directed the informant to drive to Jonathan Street, according to court records.

Daniels got out of the informant's car and made contact with Easterling, according to court records.

Daniels returned to the informant's car and provided the informant with a plastic bag with an off-white colored substance, court records allege. Daniels later alleged he obtained crack from Easterling, according to court records.
