Cub Scout Pack 8 members complete safety course

On Dec. 21, Washington County Sheriff Doug Mullendore and Cpl. Jim Holsinger presented the BSA Emergency Preparedness and BSA Crime Prevention Awards to 22 Cub Scouts from Pack 8 at the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

The Cub Scouts participated in a four-month program which encouraged community involvement and taught them personal, family and community safety; personal crime prevention; as well as how to approach and handle a variety of emergency and crisis situations they could face. The Scouts also took part in a Child Safe project as part of the program.

The recipients are John Anderson, Ben Byers, Josh Nester, Ethan Amos, Donny Borum, Seamus Burns, Connor Dorsey, Matthew O'Neil, Nicholas Radley, Madison Ryan, Andrew Stine, Samuel Strama, James Sword, Liam Burns, Lucas Hammer, Brandon Kijowski, Zachary Mentzell, Jack Minahan, Joseph Romanic, Jaden Shabelski, Nicholas Schmitt and Joseph Zabrucky.

The Scout recipients are in the first through third grades.

Pack 8 is chartered by St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hagerstown.
