Animal shelter looking for home for Nubian goat

She may be called Bambi, but this sweet- faced young female is not the doe you would expect.

She is an adult female Nubian goat, also called a doe, that came to the Humane Society of Washington County after she was caught running in the streets in Hagerstown.

Probably destined for auction, Bambi decided to change her fate and apparently jumped from the vehicle in which she was traveling. Bambi's ear was tagged with identification from Illinois. Efforts to find her original owners have not been successful.

Bambi is at the shelter and waiting for a place to call her own. Approximately 60 pounds, her markings are brown against white. She is a bit timid and will need some patience and TLC to bring her to her full potential.

If you are interested in meeting Bambi, call the shelter at 301-733-2060 and ask for adoptions.

The Humane Society is at 13011 Maugansville Road in Hagerstown. Go to for information on animal-related issues, directions to the shelter and information about programs and services.
