SABILLASVILLE, Md. - Mrs. Helga "Helen" (Sedlag) Calimer, 79, of 16602 Buck Lantz Road, Sabillasville, died at 6:40 a.m. Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, in the home of her daughter, Pamala.

Born Sept. 23, 1930, in Bresslau, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Fritz and Liesbeth (Hirsh) Sedlag.

She spent her early life in Germany, where she attended school.

Mrs. Calimer and her late husband, Mr. Thaddeus A. Calimer, were married June 3, 1955, in Hagerstown, Md. They lived in Highfield, Md., for several years and at their present residence for the past 31 years. He died Aug. 23, 2009.

She was employed at Thurmont Shoe Factory and for Claire Frock Sewing Factory until her retirement in 1979.

Mrs. Calimer was a member of St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, Cascade, and American Legion Post 239 Ladies Auxiliary, Cascade.

She is survived by two children, Christian R. Calimer of Virginia Beach, Va., and Pamala C. Fox of Sabillasville; three grandchildren, Timothy C. Calimer of Smithsburg, Md., Kevin A. Fox of Napa Valley, Calif., and Carrie M. Calimer of Virginia Beach; two great-grandchildren, Sage M. Calimer and Jade E. Calimer, both of Smithsburg; three sisters, Inge Branca and Gerda Barrientos, both of Waynesboro, Pa., and Christa Wills and her husband, Donald, of Fairfield, Pa.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Pastor Sandy Price and Pastor Joanne Gaver officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Church Cemetery, Cascade.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
