Evelyn Jane (Lynn) Mentzer, 91

HAGERSTOWN, Md. - On Dec. 26, 2009, Evelyn Jane (Lynn) Mentzer, 91, left this world to join her husband, David (Frank) Mentzer, who passed away Nov. 20, 1977. They were married Jan. 11, 1942.

She was born Oct. 8, 1918, at the family home in Hagerstown to the late Ima (Nalley) and Amos Lynn.

A lifetime member of Grace United Methodist Church in Hagerstown, she was employed at Hagerstown Shoe Co. prior to her marriage.

A resident of Broadmore Assisted Living, she enjoyed bingo and dining out. She also loved to crochet.

She leaves behind son, David Lynn Mentzer, and wife, Cheryl, of Hagerstown; daughter, Kimberly Ann Bryan and husband, Terry, of Greencastle, Pa.; son, Leslie Harold Mentzer and wife, Donna, of Hagerstown; son, Kevin Lee Mentzer and wife, Deborah, of Waynesboro, Pa.; son, Lauren Jan Mentzer and wife, Judy, of Greencastle; and daughter, Laurie Jane McCarty and husband, Jack, of Hagerstown; grandchildren, Eric Mentzer of Hagerstown, Scott Bryan of Columbia, Md., Chris Bryan of Lusby, Md., Bradley Mentzer of Hanover, Pa., Zachary Mentzer of Hagerstown, Amber Delauter of Waynesboro, Ryan Mentzer of Waynesboro, Melissa Black of Greencastle, Michelle Mentzer of Nashville, Tenn., Mandi Mentzer of Greencastle, Kari Jo Kephart of Church Creek, Md., and Derek McCarty of Hagerstown; and seven great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind sisters, Vivian Mentzer of Hagerstown and Wilma Myers of Salisbury, Md.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by a sister, Louise; and three infant brothers.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Clark D. Carr officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
