Horst Albert Pohl, 87, of 11801 Linbar Drive in Hagerstown, Md., passed away Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, at his home.

Born Tuesday, Aug. 22, 1922, in Dietrichstein, Germany, he was the son of the late Albert Pohl and the late Martha Ruskowski Pohl.

Horst served in World War II with the U.S. Army.

He was employed by Mack Trucks for 29 years, retiring in 1987.

He was a member of Boonsboro First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Norma E. Pohl; one daughter, Kathleen Morgan of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; one son, Kevin Pohl of Clear Spring, Md.; and three grandchildren, Jessica Perkins, Andrew Morgan and Brooke Pohl.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Gertrude Beaureguard; and one brother, Alfred Pohl.

Services will be Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Dean Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.


The family will receive friends Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
