WILLIAMSPORT - Howard Thomas Renner, 82, of Williamsport, Md., passed away Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, at his home.

Born April 6, 1927, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Joseph Howard and Lelia Belle Buracker Renner.

Howard served in the U.S. Army during World War II, worked at Southern and Maryland Ribbon Co., then retired from Weis Markets in 1989, where he worked as a meat cutter.

He was a member of Antietam Church of God, Potomac American Legion Post 202 in Williamsport and AARP.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Essie Iola Renner; two daughters, Debbie Elliott of Halfway, Md., and Nicole L. Pitcock of Hagerstown; two sons, Thomas H. Renner of Smithsburg and John E. Renner of Hagerstown; stepdaughter, Dana L. Sheffler of Williamsport; a stepson, Daniel Cunningham of Sharpsburg, Md.; three brothers, Ned Renner of Halfway, and William Renner and Henry Renner, both of Hagerstown; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.


Graveside services will be Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg, with Pastor Jan Wade officiating.

There will be no viewing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Antietam Church of God, 4605 Harpers Ferry Road, Sharpsburg, MD 21782.

Arrangements are by Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport.
