Chambersburg Hospital

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Chambersburg Hospital recently received Unison Health Plan of Pennsylvania's 2009 Gold Star II Award.

The award was given in recognition of the hospital's successful reduction in hospital-acquired infections as documented annually by the Pennsylvania Health Cost Containment Council.

Unison Health Plan reviewed five areas of measurement using a reduction of 5 percent per thousand cases as its performance measure. Chambersburg Hospital's rate of reduction in these five areas was an average of 17 percent.

Out of the 98 hospitals reviewed, 58 were eligible, but only 37 received the award, according to Unison Health Plan.

The data, published in April 2008, was for the 2006 calendar year.
